HiFi Princess a.k.a. Lori J. Ward / Flavorite, Phonix (CAN)
International DJ Hi-Fi Princess, aka Lori Ward, has been establishing herself in the underground party scene since 1993. Beginning in Victoria, Canada, Hi-Fi's love for music evolved quickly into a desire to start spinning. From '95 to '98 she developed a quirky electronic house/tech sound that took her out of the local scene and expanded her territory throughout the West Coast of America and across Canada.
In 1998 she headed off to London where she continued to develop her sound. During that time she held 2 residencies in London, as well as making appearances at club 333 Old Street and at various techno outlaw parties. After having been on the scene for six months she accepted an offer for a weekly residency in Luxembourg's Evolution through Luxury U.K. promotions. There she had the opportunity to work alongside some of the biggest djs on the scene like Timo Maas, Gayle San, and Ritchie Hawtin.
Having taken part in the ever-changing music scene throughout all of Europe , Hifi Princess's sound has evolved into a sophisticated mix of techno and Electro and also her other favorite, a warm tech-house/ progressive sound. She has spun with a lot of great djs during her time touring in Europe like Joaquim Garraud, Jeff Mills, Boy George, Tom Novy, Valantino Kanzyani, and Adam Beyer to name a few. She has also played at some of the best clubs and festivals in the world as well. Places like The Tunnel-NYC, Liquid Club-Madrid, Koneisto Festival-Finland, The Best-Zagreb, Ambasada Gavioli-Slovenia, Mazzo-Amsterdam ,Sona-Montreal ,Turbo-Toronto, 1015 Folsom-San Fransisco, Klub Kuaille-Tokyo Japan, Cittadella-Czech Republic, M47-Hungary, and her residency Suncity in Graz Austria.
Lori had her first release on Shimmy Recordings out of Bristol, U.K. Her track, "Refused Entry", was released June 12, 2000 on the "Collective Thoughts EP". This E.P had great reviews by some of the top DJ's in the business.
After spending 4 years living in New York City , in 2002 Lori decided to make the move back to Europe and is now based in Vienna, Austria. Her main focus has been in studio along with her heavy dj scheduale. Her first album Foreign Communication under the alias Lori J. Ward was released in 2004. It is a 13 Track downtempo cd and is available at www.ebl.cc Lori is also signed to Highball Music (www.highball-music.de) Her track entitled "Disastermind" is now available on Join Us Records, and was signed to the Love Parade Berlin 2004 Compilation as well as 3 other large europeon dance compilations..
Lori’s track The New Xavier which appeared on her last album ‘foreign communication’ was nominated out of 11,000 entries in the top 10 for the International Song Contest, and received and honerable mention.
Her newest project is with Tobias Frick. Her new live act is called Phonix. Their new album House of Jive is now complete. Is is a mix of electro-breaks-down tempo and rock’ish.
She runs the label Flavorite Music.
Jonathan David / Flavorite (CAN)
For most DJs who are in the game for the right reasons, Production is the natural next step. Jonathan spent six years DJing for crowds Nationally as well as Internationally before deciding to go to school for the proper training in the realm of Recorded Production & Audio Engineering. He attended Trebas Institute in 2003 in Toronto Canada where he studied along side other DJ/Producers from Canada as well as the U.S., some who have become very successful in their own rights. As a musician threw and threw, Jonathan was very delighted to be studying with such a diverse group of Artists and Musicians. Being diverse has always been one of the most important factors for Jonathan and is definitely one of the major keys to the kind of Production he is involved in. He is obsessed with some of todays top Producers and feeds off their work with the out most respect and admiration. Being honest about the music he creates is the most important factor for Jonathan- ” its about the music i love and most importantly about how it makes me feel as well as others, this whole game is about feelings and sharing emotions of sex, love, release, progression, anger, peace and what ever else a person needs to bring to the dance floor. Iv been a slave to the rhythm for so long now i cant help but need to enslave others, or save others with the beats in my head and heart. This journey is just starting for me and i take every track i make as a bridge to the next. Im so fortunate to be part of this thing we call House and Music….its loved me for so long now i just cant help but be in this thing for life!!” The future for Jonathan is a bright one as he spends most of his time in the Studio creating his next personal message to the masses. Be sure to keep an eye out for this Artist as he will be reaching your soul sooner than later.
T. Orlando / Flavorite (SLO)
T.Orlando has started his music journey at first in a death/black metal band as a guitarist. But by time’s passing, he realized that this wasn’t enough and that pushed him to explore also other genres and possibilities of creating music.
In a short time he found out that electronic music was the answer. At home with just a PC and some headphones he has started to produce and to learn how to make it sound better. Influenced by artists like Nick Warren and the whole global underground team plus other artists as juno reactor he started to produce his first progressive tracks but by growing as an artist he explored also genres as deep house and more recently minimal and tech-house, that brought him to produce lots of different tracks. Today defining his genre is a non-sense limitation.
With gigs in the last year in Slovenia, Austria and an upcoming tour in India, he is also proving himself behind the decks like he has with his impressive releases til now.
The best way to know him is to listen to some of his tracks.
