Melt! announce the first wave of international acts that will perform at the festival’s 15th edition from 13th to 15th July 2012. Acts including Gossip, Justice, Two Door Cinema Club, The Whitest Boy Alive, and M83 will perform beneath the iconic giant diggers, Bloc Party will celebrate their reunion with a very special performance and electronic music purveyors Richie Hawtin, Ellen Allien and Modeselektor will curate and host individual stages in co-operation with Melt!
Dance-punk pioneers Gossip will return to Melt! for the second time. The Arkansas trio, fronted by the inimitable Beth Ditto, recently announced a new album to be released later this year - the long-awaited follow-up to 2009′s Music For Men - so we’re excited to see what they have in store for us. And it’s another return for Bloc Party! Following Kele Okereke’s departure to focus on his solo career in the last couple of years, the band have regrouped and will be celebrating their reunion at Melt! Festival with a wealth of new material ready to unleash on the crowd before it’s release later this year.
Let’s hear it for the newcomers too as French electronic music wizards Justice make their debut on the Ferropolis peninsular and Dan Snaith’s Caribou make their only German festival appearance this year – a show that is not to be missed! The hooky guitar pop sounds of Ireland’s Two Door Cinema Club won’t fail to raise the festival revellers spirits still further as will the effortlessly cool grooves of Erlend Øye's project The Whitest Boy Alive. And after an incredible year in 2011, which saw the release of the critically acclaimed album ‘Hurry Up, We're Dreaming’, Anthony Gonzalez, will being the epic sounds or M83 to Melt!
Next up, we are hugely excited to announce that electronic music purveyors Richie Hawtin, Ellen Allien and Modeselektor will all host and curate individual stages in co-operation with Melt! Festival. Modeselektor will be back for the third time in a row hosting the Melt!Selektor stage for two consecutive days. With her entourage in tow, Ellen Allien, techno queen and label boss at Bpitch Control, will, once again, ring in the final hours at Sleepless Floor. And finally, Melt! Festival organisers are particularly proud to work with Richie Hawtin this year. After his stellar performance in 2011, the techno pioneer will curate the Big Wheel Stage under the banner of "Richie Hawtin presents" on Sunday.
