LIL* DEVIOUS: YOU CONTROL ME

12.11.2007

Gung-Ho! are proud to introduce Carlisle based artists Lil* Devious to their first outing on the label. ‘You Control Me’ pays homage to new romantic’s electronica with a modern punky feel added by Mark Baker’s Joy Division-esque vocals.

With a sexy, nu-wave quality ‘You Control Me’ comes with re-rubs from Greg Chruchill and Groove Invaders.  Mark Baker and Gary Little form Lil* Devious and have a great story to tell, producing for 15 years they have previously released music on Norman Cook’s Southern Fried label and major labels such as BMG and Sony (before they joined as one) as well as specialist imprints Shaboom and Stronghouse.

DJing is secondary to these guys; with a band assembled they are now very much working on their live shows and Mark’s vocal debut is scheduled for early 2008. A Long Player is also in the pipe line.

A very brief recent history on the trouble makers that are Lil* Devious goes a little some thing like this. In 2001 they hit the UK charts with 'Come Home' on Rulin (Ministry). They went on to produce the Percy Filth tech house giant – ‘Show Me Your Monkey’ for Southern Fried, which again hit the UK charts. They’ve helped Calvin Harris “polish up” material that he worked on from his home studio. And as Calvin doesn’t have a car they’d pick him up with his kit, get to work and wait for his Dad to collect him afterwards. How very acid house.

They’ve also had studio sessions with Mick Karn ex-bass player with 80's visionaries JAPAN. The meetings became crucial in shaping the current vibe Lil* Devious are coveting.
