GOLDFISH – ‘CRUISING THROUGH’

RELEASE DATE – AUGUST TBC 2008

REMIXES AL VELILLA AND KRUSHED & SORTED

LABEL - PACHA RECORDINGS

To coincide with their summer residency at Pure Pacha, Ibiza - multifaceted South African dance duo Goldfish release their first single ‘Cruising Through’ from their highly anticipated artist album Perceptions of Pacha.

With opening performances for world renowned artists such as Fatboy Slim, Mr Scruff, Pete Tong and Stereo MCs it won’t be long before these guys are the headline act! Those who have caught their extraordinary live shows will vouch for their ‘anything goes’ attitude to their performances, making use of a double bass, saxophones, keyboards, samplers and FX as they go.

‘Cruising Through’ could be described as the epitome of summer cool. A track that is destined to be heard blaring from the soundsystems of the more discerning bars and hang-outs this year. The record wears its jazz influences on its sleeve with an unmistakeably catchy horn riff, infectious pianos and hyperactive percussion.

Al Velilla’s mix pins down the groove to a straight up four-four beat that will ensure the track crosses successfully over into the realm of clubland. On top of the already fluent drums, Velilla adds some addictive tribal percussion and further jazzy flourishes that keep the vibrant summer spirit of the original alive. The mix is topped off with a full-on salsa-style breakdown that happily throws up a curve ball to the usual dancefloor moments you would come to expect.

The Krushed & Sorted mix sees Goldfish thrown deep into drum & bass territory to fantastic effect. It’s all about the rolling beats on this one with all the hallmarks of the original happily lending them to the up-tempo nature of the remix.

On top of their numerous achievements to date the boys are set to embark on US tours with Macy Grey and Axwell later in 2008, giving the States a taste of the act that has been described as the ‘re-invention of the DJ’!
