Steve Lawler's Lights Out Miami returns to Downtown Miami in 2009, embarking on its 8th year as one of the premier events of the conference week. Lights Out Miami is Lawler's very own signature event; a forward-thinking concept night originally inspired by his own experiences at the most obscure, intense and debauched parties on the planet.
Lights Out is about unashamedly getting lost in the music with a no-messing rave vibe, and it is one of the longest serving and most popular parties on the WMC calendar. Year in, year out it is highly anticipated and delivers a raw and unparalleled energy that redefines the club night as we know it.
Lawler brings about an undeniably compelling atmosphere, anchored by his mastery behind the decks and complimented by a full range Dynacord Sound System. The collective experience is one that no true Lawler fan can afford to miss, enhanced by thought-provoking visual art, mind-blowing set production. The room is decorated and transformed to fit the concept theme with the people and the ambience manipulated to the identity of Lights Out.
Going back to its roots is the crucial theme for 2009’s Lights Out party as Steve takes his brainchild back to the basics of house music and clubbing culture. As ever the venue has changed, this is a prerequisite for the Lights Out parties so the person on the dance floor gets a fresh, moving Lights Out experience every time. Lawler notably spends months preparing for this one show, no mean feat for a man that averages well over 120 gigs a year, further evidence of why he is revered as one of the most intense and insightful DJ/producers out there.
Steve comments:
"After 8 years of Lights Out at the Winter Music Conference, I believe the way forward for Lights Out is to go back to its original roots. I’ll play an extended set where I am free to build the atmosphere of the night. Over the last few years I have selected friends and live PA's to showcase there talents, now that I have my Viva Music party for this function I can take Lights Out back to how I always envisaged it to be.
“Clive Henry is back on board opening the room with his perfect deep, dark and brooding style. I'm very excited that Lights Out will be going back to its original form…"
