SPIRIT OF BURGAS ROCKS THE BEACH
The Second edition of SPIRIT of Burgas kicked off in style with the opening night selling out for Faith No More’s first, ever performance in Bulgaria. Taking place on Burgas Central Beach from 14th -16th August 2009, thousands of festival goers came together and partied on the beach during the 3 day festival.
As well as the much anticipated performance of Faith No More, SPIRIT of Burgas showcased a diverse range of music with over 100 artist’s performances on seven stages. The Main Stage hosted top international artists including, Fun Lovin’ Criminals, Dreadzone, Crystal Method, Clawfinger, LTJ Bukem feat. MC Conrad and local hero’s D2 and Gravity Co.
“It was exactly what I hoped it would be and you can’t go wrong with a festival on a beach” enthused Clawfinger vocalist Zak Tell after coming off stage.
SPIRIT of Burgas was the first festival of its kind in Bulgaria and it has come a long way since its launch in 2008, being nominated for Best European Festival at the Virtual Festival Awards in the same year and The Times naming it one Top 20 European Music Festivals for 2009.
Orangisers were amazed by how many people came to support the event in only the second year and would like to thank everyone for believing in the event and helping to make it a success.

The festival also provided a platform to showcase local Bulgarian talent giving them a chance to perform in front of national and international media and to meet artists from the international music scene.

It’s great for local bands like us to meet high profile international artists and for them to hear our music together with international media and visitors to the festival. Supported by the Mayor of Burgas, Mr. Dimitar Nikolov, SPIRIT of Burgas embraced contemporary culture and the arts and provided entertainment for local residents and holiday makers as well as providing a creative outlet for the people of Bulgaria, be it musicians, artists or unusual performances.
