RICHARD M
Richard M has soulful house running through his veins. Whether it's getting his groove on with the likes of Bobby & Steve or Sandy Rivera at his City Loud bi-monthly residency or fronting his prime time weekly radio show, over the years Richard M has established himself to be one of London's favourite spinners.
His love of soulful house certainly runs deep - just like his music, and throughout his career Richard has graced the decks at some of the UK's leading clubs. In fact, Turnmills has become more like a second home to Richard, having held various residencies over the years at club nights The Gallery, Together, Metrogroove and most recently City Loud. With that he's played alongside some of the World's most respected DJ and Producers during this period including UK heads Danny Rampling and CJ Mackintosh, plus NYC legends Frankie Knuckles, Tony Humphries and David Morales (forthcoming April 2004). An achievement that Richard is very proud of, considering both Rampling and Humphires were his two biggest inspirations when he first started out DJing at parties and running a pirate radio station with friends. On top of that, Richard shared the bill with The Chemical Brothers, Justin Robertson, Lottie and Nic Fanciulli at Together (Turnmills, NYE 2003), as well as warming things up rather smoothly for CJ Mackintosh to see in the New Year in style!!
Other notable London clubs that Richard's played are The Cross, Pacha, Ministry of Sound (Smoove), Bagleys, The Coliseum, Camden Palace (Clockwork Orange), Rouge, Scala, The Glasshouse and The Rhythm Factory. Outside of London, Richard's headlined the mighty Godskitchen at Code and The Sanctuary, plus he's funked-up the likes of Pacific Edge, The Loop and Epping Country Club. Overseas, Richard has represented both The Gallery and Clockwork Orange in Ibiza for many years. Performing to sell out crowds at San Antonio's Eden and Es Paradis, Richard played a significant role in establishing these two pioneering clubs as Balearic giants.
Back home, it wasn't long before Richard was snapped up for the airwaves and for two years now, he's presented his very own Saturday night prime time show (6-8pm) on Unknown FM 97.1. Richard goes in the mix for two continuous hours and his show has proved to be extremely popular with the capital's cooler clubheads.
Richard's currently in the studio working on a number of different projects. Gig wise, he's gearing up for his first trip to Slovenia and more late night jamming at his City Loud residency, plus guest spots around the country. With the radio show continuing to go from strength to strength and with special guests like CJ Mackintosh and Roy the Roach eager to get involved, it looks like we'll be seeing and indeed hearing a lot more of Richard M in 2004.
