Naj se poletje zaključi v velikem slogu z poletnimi plesnimi ritmi in vročim spektaklom. Organizatorji nepozabne aprilske prireditve z angleško zasedbo Shapeshifters, ki je privabila večje število zamejskih in domačih obiskovalcev, so tudi tokrat poskrbeli za odličen izbor predvsem tujih izvajalcev house glasbe. 10-urni event se bo pričel ob 22. uri v izolski Ambasadi Gavioli, z uvodom priljubljenih domačinov, slovenskih didžejev, ki bodo plesišča ogrevali do prihoda osrednjih zvezdnikov večera: Lee-Cabrera, Scarlett Etienne in Mark Knight.

Ameriško - španska naveza, prodorna jezdeca plošč Steven Lee in Albert Cabrera nedvomno spadata med trde karieriste v hitrem vzponu. Njun premierni nastop v Sloveniji bo razveselil tako mlajše, kot tudi starejše ljubitelje underground house scene. Nesporna kralja za gramofoni nerada označujeta svoj stil samo z določeno zvrstjo glasbe, temveč ga opredeljujeta kot mešanico več zvrsti, od latino housea, deepa in funka do progressiva in electra. Ustvarjanje glasbe v duetu sta začela pred dobrimi petimi leti, vzpon pa šele leta 2001, ko je evropske klubske lestvice zatresel remiks komada ''Reach'' pevke Lil' Mo Yin Yang. Plošča je nemudoma dobila podporo priznanih angleških progressive didžejev Petea Tonga, Dannyja Tenaglie, Stevea Lawlerja, Rogerja Sancheza idr. Newyorčana sta nadaljevala z remiksiranjem in sodelovanjem s številnimi uglednimi imeni svetovne nekomercialne in pop scene, kot so Madonna, Crystal Waters, Prince, Layo and Bushwacka, Planetfunk, The Scumfrog itd. Povezovala sta Albertov old-school zvok s primesjo različnih novih elementov plesne glasbe s strani Stevena, kar je bilo odločilno za magičen in edinstveno prepoznaven zvok udarnega dueta Lee-Cabrera.
Pred dvema letoma izdata ploščo Shake it (Move a Little Closer), s čimer si zagotovita nešteta vrtenja na radijskih in televizijskih postajah (Viva, MTV) ter neučakano priljubljenost s strani publike, ki jih doslej še ni poznala. Z njo zasedeta vrh lestvice Top 15 National Chart in licenco podata več kot devetdesetim različnim kompilacijam v triindvajsetih državah. Med silnim vzponom se ne ustavljata in izdata bržkone nov klubsko-komercialni hit Special.
Večer Voodoo Love Ambasade Gavioli, pod organizacijo Ultimed Music, je bil poimenovan po zadnji plošči Voodoo Love Stevena, Alberta in skupine Phase 2.

MARK KNIGHT

2004 has been a big year for Mark Knight. His “Filthy House EP” was the right sound at the right time – house music had been moving away from the vocal, commercial side, back to its underground roots. The E.P. embodied this shift, but that’s not to say it’s an uncompromisingly dark record; like all of his tracks, it has that trademark Mark Knight groove. There was a real buzz around the record in Miami of that year, and after some serious radio play, and an appearance in the Mixmag “Porn House” covermount CD, the success of Filthy House pushed Mark into the spotlight.



But Mark had established himself in the industry long before this. Originally a soul boy, his first taste of house music was at the Ministry of Sound back in the mid 90s. From then on he was hooked, and he began to get involved in the scene, promoting a night in the Arches club in London , and spinning alongside the legendary Masters At Work. However, his real ambition was to produce – and it was longtime friend Dave Lee (aka Joey Negro) who introduced Mark to his studio engineer, Kevin “K-Boy” Brooks.



Their partnership was instantly successful, and under the K&M moniker they went on to produce and remix tracks for such labels as Ultravinyl, Z Records, Sony and Polydor, including a remix of Kylie Minogue’s comeback record, “Can’t Get You Out Of My Head”. When Mark and Kevin split after several years, Mark was grateful for learning from K-Boy’s studio experience, but felt ready to pursue his own musical ideas.



Fortunately for Mark, he seems to have ideas in abundance. Since the release of Filthy House, he has been on a roll. Extremely prolific both in the quantity and quality of his releases, DJ Mag have referred to him as “the hardest working man in house”. His releases range from the funky, back room sounds of “We Got Tha”, to the chunky, main room Hedgetrimmerz, “Trim My Triangle” E.P, to the more underground, progressively edged “Acid Test”. On the remix front, Mark has got his hands on the classic “Strings of Life” by Soul Central, which can safely be described as an end of the night, hands in the air house anthem, and “Morning Always Comes Too Soon” by Brad Carter, set to be one of the biggest records of the year. His gorgeous, soulful yet edgy remix of Portabella’s “Viva La Difference” marks his third number one buzz chart position in a row.



Accolades have been coming thick and fast for Mark – Steve Lawler has called him “the best producer on the planet”, Pete Tong has labeled him “the man of the moment”, and the inaugural House Music Awards have nominated him for best breakthrough producer. One reason for Mark’s success has been his incredible partnership with Martijn Ten Velden, formerly of Audio Drive . “We got together to do just one track… we’ve been working together ever since”



Another venture for Mark has been establishing his own label. From its HQ in the mean streets of Maidstone , Toolroom Records has emerged over the past eighteen months as one of the most respected dance labels in the UK , culminating in a House Music Award nomination for best breakthrough label. A massive factor in its success has been the number of remixes Mark and Martijn have done for the label, turning Hool vs. Bruckheimer’s “In the Beginning”, Allister Whitehead’s “Let the Music Use You” and Granite and Phunk’s “Knock U Over” into huge records.

Although Mark considers himself first and foremost as producer, his skills on the decks have warranted a further House Music Awards nomination – for best breakthrough DJ. His style reflects his attitudes to production; rather than finding one style and sticking to it, Mark likes to keep his sets as varied as possible. Comfortable with soulful, funky sounds as well as tribal, progressive and tech house tunes, if it works on the floor, then it works for Mark. More recently, Mark and Martijn have been re-creating their studio partnership into a DJing duo – it’s very rarely that you get two DJs working in harmony, but when you do it can be to devastating effect, as their recent Essential Mix on radio1 has illustrated.



Having found house music on the dancefloor of the Ministry of Sound, Mark’s career has come full circle, after being given a residency at the club. Of all of his achievements, Mark is proudest of this one, and he can often be found working to the early hours of the morning in his Maidstone studio, making his next hit, ready to be played to the Ministry faithful.
