DJ EXACTA PACHA NYC, SUBLIMINAL RECORDS |USA
Exacta actually started as a DJ in Hip Hop and remained there for ten years before making the leap over to House music. What initially lured him to Hip Hop during the genesis of the musical movement was the creativity and originality of every artist as they were paving the way in a new sound. The throngs of people that crowded onto the dance floors were demanding new sounds, new beats and a fresh new lifestyle that would quickly become the most popular musical genre in America. Through the years, as Hip Hop's popularity grew, the crowds became less tolerant of new material and new sounds. While introducing a new hit song on the dance floor used to get the crowd excited, playing a song that was not already over-hyped on the radio was now a guarantee that you would be clearing the dance floor. Since one of Exacta's major strengths was identifying and promoting new hits through his DJ sets, he began to feel alienated in the world of Hip Hop.House music seemed to be calling his name.Exacta considers House music "the modern day equivalent to classical music." Not only are there many similarities between House music producer and Classical music composer, but House music audiences today are more educated, refined and discerning with their music than most other music genres.Within just three years from making the jump over to House music, Exacta had already become one of New York City's most in-demand DJ/Producers with a long list of accomplishments that has made the international nightlife and music industry stand up and take notice. Early on he signed as an artist with Erick Morillo's Subliminal Records which led to a residency at crobar New York and the opportunity to open for Tiesto at Amnesia in Ibiza, Spain. Other highlights include playing Space in Miami during the Winter Music Conference in 2004 and current residencies at Home, Guest House, Pink Elephant and Pacha, all in New York City.Exacta's debut on Subliminal, "The Beat Is Inside You", featuring soulful, sexy vocals by club diva Sandy B, was described as a massive smash and very well received around the world getting major play on the UK's Radio One. Exacta's second Subliminal release, "Flippin" left critics raving, calling it a "mesmerizing, sultry, and hot" track. This Winter Subliminal Records will release his highly anticipated third track, “Shake My Soul” featuring Angelica de No.THE ENTREPRENEUR: Outside of his music industry successes, Exacta has proven himself as a successful entrepreneur time and time again.-- In 1996, as a college student himself, he saw the need for a packing supplies and shipping company that catered to the specific needs of college and university students. The company was a success and eventually was bought out by Mailboxes, Etc.-- In 1998, during the fall of most Internet startups, Exacta co-founded NYCtoGO.com, an online delivery service in New York City which allowed customers to order takeout from local restaurants from their computer. That company merged with Delivery.com and although Exacta is no longer involved, the company continues to grow.
Most recently in March 2006, after studying the House music market for four years, Exacta launched his own record label, Compulsive Music. Exacta's goals for Compulsive Music include becoming one of the handful of dance music labels to have an international appeal. On a more general basis, the mission of Compulsive Music is to promote and perpetuate dance music as a stronger force in American and world-wide pop culture. At the moment House music isn't as visible on Radio, TV or in the tabloids (heaven help us) as other musical genres. Through Compulsive Music and its artists, Exacta would like to help enhance the visibility of dance music and the House music lifestyle. In April 2006, Exacta will release Compulsive Music's first song. With DJ Daley Padley, he reinterpreted the dance classic "Pride: a deeper love," this time featuring Compulsive Music artist Diane Nelson. "Pride" has already generated a huge buzz in the international dance music scene and as of March 18 this track had risen to number
