Rudi Wrany aka Crazy Sonicwas born in the middle of nowhere in Carinthia. in
the age of 19 he went to Vienna to study journalism and political science.
In the early 90`s he was witness of Dj DSL`s famous Dj skills and he started
to play Hip Hop and organise parties in Vienna`s smaller clubs such as
Bricks and B 72.
Crazy Sonic in his early years always played very eclectic, so als House,
Drum and Bass, Uptempo, Brasil and Breakbeats became part og his sets.
He started Djing a lot in bars and cafes like Blue Box, Pulse, Kunsthalle
and Roxy and in 1997 his club "rewind" started in Vienna`s Sargfabrik with
Kruder and Dorfmeister. It was a huge succes and so he continued making
parties in B 72, where he began to invite Djs from abroad, which wasn`t very
usual at that time.
From 1998 till 2001 he hosted "con:verse" in the Meierei, Vienna`s legendary
hangout, located in the centre of Vienna`s Stadtpark together with the guys
from Sunshine enterprise.
Many international Djs came to play there on two floors, house downstairs,
Vienna´s typical downbeat melange
upstairs.Kruder and Dorfmeister loved the
place and held monthly residencies there.
Crazy Sonic alyways used to be resident on both floors.
In 2001 (meierei had to close down und became on of Vienna`s most famous and
expensive restaurants) he moved to FLEX to start up with something
completely different: CRAZY. It was a club for electronic freaks who love to
go out on Tuesday. At the beginnig only a few people came but it increased
during the years. In this time also Crazy Sonic changed his style and
started to play Techhouse, Electro, Minimal and all the intelligent new ways
of electronic music.
He made it possible that Tuesday became one of the best days in FLEX, famous
all over Europe. Sven Väth, Hell, Richie Hawtin. Steve Bug, Miss Kittin,
Michael Mayer and many others plaed tehre in the meantime and FLEX is known
by everybody who wants to listen to modern electronic music (no Schranz, no
Trance)
In 2006 Crazy Sonic also founded a recordlabel called FLEX Schallplatten, he
is doing a monthly radioshow on Play:fm (2nd Tuesday) where he invites
guests and starts to produce tracks together with some of Vienna`s new
talents.
In the meantime he played a lot abroad such as Munich, Berlin, Cologne,
Brno, Switzerland, Barcelona etc.
With his CRAZY Club he organises clubtours sometimes together with his
residents Smacs, Patrick Kong and Electric Indigo
