MELT FESTIVAL
FERROPOLIS, GERMANY
16th - 18th July 2010
www.meltfestival.de
It's number 13, baby and Melt! are proud to present the next load of acts for the 13th edition! We are happy to confirm exclusive festival gigs by Kings of Convenience, Goldfrapp and Kele of Bloc Party fame. The Norwegians Kings of Convenience will once again teach us a lesson in quietness. Flying on a synth sound carpet, the British duo Goldfrapp will present their brand new album "Head First". After acclaimed performances by Melt! legends Bloc Party, frontman Kele Okereke will present his solo project "Kele" exclusively between the iron giants of Ferropolis.
Kings of Convenience
The people of Norway seem to indulge in silence gladly. Erlend Øye and his duo partner Erik Glambek Bøe have cultivated this musically for nearly a decade now. Acoustic guitars are paired with nearly aspired vocals, accompanied by strings and brass. Last year, Kings of Convenience released their third album "Declaration of Dependence." Melt! 2010 is in for exquisite ambiance.
Goldfrapp
Alison Goldfrapp's career started out with punk and goth collaborations. She kept that attitude, of course, yet the genre she changed drastically. Her new release "Head First" is in stores now and soft and sweet synth sounds plus pop aesthetics galore are on top of the British duo's agenda today: a handful of optimism for Melt! summer 2010.
Kele
After their UK tour, Bloc Party announced that the band would take an indefinite break. However, that doesn't mean the four-piece is retiring from the music biz altogether. Quite the contrary. Frontman Kele Okereke is starting 2010 with his solo project "Kele". Who knows which sound experiments, he's been conjuring. One thing's for sure: he'll take over Gemini Stage which is known for dancefloor fillers galore.
Indie bands a plenty
We are very excited to present powerful indie acts such as the Shout Out Louds, Yeasayer, Jamie T, Midlake, Delphic, Friendly Fires, Johnossi, Health and The Big Pink. Furthermore it's an honour to welcome the Dirty Projectors for their only appearance in Germany this year.
Melt! goes pop
Melt! has always been big on pop music. And pop lovers will be happy to hear that we can confirm performances of Miike Snow, Hercules And Love Affair, Jamie Lidell, Hurts and German shooting stars Bonaparte, which will not only appear in their feature with Modeselektor but will also present the band's brand new album in full length on the main stage.
Melt! Selector stage
Speaking of Modeselektor: The Melt! Selector stage is complete: Modeselektor feat. Bonaparte live (Visuals: Pfadfinderei), Jamie XX, Black Rose (Jesse Rose & Henrik Schwarz live), Martyn vs. Kode 9, Mala, Jackmaster and Skate will present new stuff.
Unfortunately The Wombats had to cancel their Melt! appearance. Again. Just as in 2008 the British band let us know that they would rather concentrate on their next album. Long live artistic freedom.

Official Melt! Opener - The Audiolith Pferdemarkt on July 15th:
We get the Audiolith Crew and their mixing-prone hands onboard officially and give them a highly official site opening party of a virgin festival site: Saalschutz, Egotronic, Bratze, Frittenbude and, of course, the DJs of the Hamburg cult label are going to take over the Melt! Klub on 15th of July. The capacity for the pre-party is limited to 3,000 people, so we are charging 5,- Euro (including fees) for entrance. Part of that fee will be donated to local social projects (more info to come soon). Tickets are only available as etickets via www.meltfestival.de/tickets. A part of the revenues will be donated to a concert, organized by the anti-fascist movement, in memory of Alberto Adriano, who was killed by neo nazis, to be held on June 12th in Dessau.
